Get ready to lace up your walking shoes! Starting Tuesday, February 17, TxDOT and their contractor, Garret Shields Infrastructure, are kicking off a major improvement project along the north side of FM 436 (W Main Street).
This $2.1 million investment will stretch over a mile from Lamar Street to SH 95, making it safer and easier for everyone to get around on foot.
What’s Included?
This project is designed with accessibility and safety as the top priorities. Here is what you can expect to see popping up over the coming months:
- A Mile of New Pathways: A continuous 8-foot-wide sidewalk.
- Upgraded Crosswalks
- ADA Ramps
- New Signage
What to Expect During Construction
We all know that progress usually comes with a bit of a wait. Between now and the end of the year, expect:
- Various lane closures throughout the project limits.
- Construction crews and equipment active along the north side of W Main Street.
- Possible minor delays during school drop-off and pick-up times.
Pro Tip: Please stay alert, slow down in work zones, and give the crews plenty of space to work safely!
